Despite these uneasy times adjusting to confined spaces and limited human interaction, we cope best by maintaining positive spirits and practicing fearless compassion, using our imagination to fast forward when this crisis is in our rear view. Nothing can stop us from dreaming, planning and staying connected. Anticipation is an integral part of our life and trip joy, right? While prudent Coronavirus habits mandate social distancing, looking forward to brighter days enjoying nearby places and distant lands does wonders for our emotional well being.
Italy sojourn cancelled? Whip up some Bolognese, served with a lively Chianti, then transport yourself to a Tuscan trattoria, buon appetito! Rhine on your mind? Cruise through an online bookstore for topical travel info by Rick Steves or Lonely Planet then gute reise! (have a nice trip!) Paris en vacances? Use this interim to brush up your francais on Duolingo or delve into researching quirky places and tours, such as the I Love You Wall, Sewer Museum or Rue Cremieux. Swipe French Cafe radio on Pandora and voila! You’re there. Trip nipped to Napa? Vine time awaits. We can all bask in cultural immersions without leaving home. Need ideas? Don’t despair, mon cher. Ask me for any relevant information to maximize enjoyment pondering a future trip, or just call to chat, especially if you’re having a bad day. The journey will be all the sweeter once you land on terra firma or passport is stamped.
For now, our goal is to stay calm, practice smart sanitation, remain healthy, help others who may be less equipped to weather this storm, especially single and elderly neighbors. Running an errand or dropping off a meal lifts spirits of both givers and receivers. Reaching out by texting, FaceTime or writing a “thinking of you” note offers care and compassion blessings to all.
We have to remind ourselves that this is a season which will have an end. It’s not eternal exile from normalcy or adventure, just a time out. Let’s hang, plan together, take care of each other – and enjoy the ride to our next destination. Dream on.
Your words will help calm the storm and give hope. You’re the best Eileen.

Just hoping that all the October plans will be able to surge ahead…….if not, we’ll be more than ready for next year! Leaving the confines of the sunshine state a little sooner than planned, so we can hunker down at home. Keep in touch!
